Today, Ulinzi Africa Foundation endorsed a letter with recommendations urging the IUCN President, Director General, and the Secretariat to acknowledge the ongoing plight of land and environmental defenders. The letter calls on them to recommit to fulfilling the Marseille Manifesto, Resolution 115, compelling the Union and its members to take urgent steps including prioritising the adoption of a clear Global Policy on Environmental Human Rights Defenders, and developing and implementing a Global Action Plan. With our director and founder at the helm of escalating risk to herself and team in defense of the forest in Kenya's Tana Delta, this call to action is critical in ensuring not only her safety, but that of anyone standing for environmental justice in the future. The following policy brief sets out the context and call to action. https://naturaljustice.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Defenders-the-role-of-the-IUCN.pdf
